Welcome to the Biodeterioration Diagnostics Wiki

Deterioration of bio-based materials like wood costs money, creates hazards, and requires

extracting more natural resources for replacement. Potential problems can be avoided and

existing problems can be remedied. However, anticipating problems, correctly identifying

sources, and wisely choosing remedial approaches each requires experience. There are far

more scenarios and problems involving biodeterioration than there are experts.

The goal of this site is to create a digital network for sharing diagnostics from the field so

that others can compare problems and learn. Using a wiki allows faster technology transfer,

a database that is continually updating, and a forum for sharing diagnostics. This can benefit

students, young professionals, homeowners, builders, and experts, alike.
